What is the Ohio voucher worth for a Cincinnati student this school year?
$6,166 for grades K-8 and $8,408 for grades 9-12 in 2026-27, sent to a participating private school and applied to tuition. Households at or under 450% of poverty receive that full amount through EdChoice Expansion, and households above it receive a reduced award that bottoms out at 10%.
How many Cincinnati-area private schools can take the voucher?
143 of the 178 schools in our four-county directory are on Ohio's chartered nonpublic list, the only kind of private school where EdChoice students enroll. Each school still chooses whether to accept scholarship students, so ask before you apply.
Is EdChoice still being paid after the October 2026 ruling?
Yes. The Tenth District Court of Appeals found the program unconstitutional on October 15, 2026, but stayed its own ruling until the Ohio Supreme Court decides, so payments and new applications continue.
Can Northern Kentucky children use Ohio's voucher at a Cincinnati school?
No. EdChoice requires Ohio residency, and Kentucky has no voucher of its own after voters rejected Amendment 2 in November 2024. Kentucky families pay tuition directly or through school aid.

What should our family do next?
