Christian schools in Southwest Ohio and how families pay for them

Greater Cincinnati's Christian schools range from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy to small church academies in Harrison, Goshen and Maineville, and some of the small ones have chosen not to be chartered. That choice decides whether EdChoice applies.

Can Cincinnati families use EdChoice at Christian schools?

Only where the school is chartered. Of the 31 Christian schools we list, 23 hold an Ohio charter; 3 are matched to DEW's non-chartered roster, and no scholarship student can enroll at those.

Why would a Cincinnati church school stay non-chartered?

Conviction. A school whose leaders hold sincere religious objections to a state charter may run as a nonchartered nonpublic school, sending DEW and parents a yearly report that it meets minimum standards. The cost is EdChoice eligibility. In our four counties, 22 schools are on DEW's 2026-27 roster, including Mars Hill Academy in Mason.

What other help do Christian school families here use?

Church-member rates, sibling discounts, the school's own aid and, at some schools, a dedicated SGO. A non-chartered school can still be backed by an SGO; a Mars Hill SGO in Mason, for instance, is on the Attorney General's 2026 list.
