Ohio spends heavily on private school scholarships, but the details a Cincinnati parent needs are scattered: two fact sheets, an income table, a workbook of designated buildings, a separate charter directory and an archdiocesan grant flyer. Cincinnati Edu Funding collects them in one place for Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties.
A tuition counselor reads each funding check and calls the family back. When a school or organization partners with us, we say so on the page, and the partnership has no effect on what we recommend.
Where do the school records come from?
We start with the federal Private School Survey from NCES, using 2023-24 responses (2021-22 for schools that missed the latest round) for grades, religious orientation, enrollment, staffing and memberships. We then match each school to Ohio's OEDS directory, downloaded October 28, 2026, for its IRN, address, phone and website, pairing records by name, ZIP and street number and reviewing doubtful pairs by hand. Where Ohio charters several campuses of one school, as with Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the school appears once. OEDS supplied 30 chartered schools that the federal survey lacked, and we flag schools matching DEW's 2026-27 non-chartered roster.
That gives 178 schools in all: 143 chartered, 5 on the non-chartered roster, and the rest (largely preschools and child care centers) on neither. Because DEW publishes its scholarship-provider directory only as an interactive tool, our chartered flag tells you a school is eligible to take EdChoice, not that it does; the school confirms that. A religious school missing from both state lists gets a profile only when its federal record is current, so closed schools do not linger.
Dollar amounts, income lines and dates are taken from DEW (the FY27 EdChoice and Expansion fact sheets, the Expansion award workbook, the FY2027 Jon Peterson and Autism charts and the designated-building list), from DCY Procedure Letter 45, Hamilton County JFS, 4C for Children, Cincinnati Preschool Promise, the Attorney General's SGO table, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the IRS. Ohio does not collect tuition, so a school's price appears only if the school supplies it.
