Which scholarship granting organizations are based in the Cincinnati area?
The Attorney General's 2026 certification list includes the Catholic Education Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, CISE-SGO, Seton Cincinnati SGO, Mount Notre Dame SGO, St. Ursula Academy SGO, the Ursuline Foundation, Xavier-SGO, Forever 49 Foundation, Mars Hill SGO in Mason and the Cincinnati Islamic School SGO in Middletown. 3Rivers Scholarship Granting Organization in North Bend was last certified in December 2025.
Statewide SGOs also serve local schools; Rockwern Academy, for one, steers donors to the Ohio Association of Independent Schools SGO.
How does the Ohio SGO tax credit work for a Cincinnati donor?
Give to a certified SGO and your Ohio income tax drops by the same amount, up to $750 for a single filer or $1,500 for a married couple filing together. Spring gifts made by April 15 can count for the previous tax year, which is why local schools campaign for SGO gifts each March and April. Because it is nonrefundable, the credit stops at zero tax.
Can an SGO award be added to EdChoice at a Cincinnati school?
Usually. SGO dollars are private, so the school can credit them toward whatever the voucher leaves. Order and limits are the school's call, and several local SGOs serve only their own school, so the business office is the place to ask.
