EdChoice Expansion calculator for Cincinnati families

Type in your household size and income to see an estimated 2026-27 award, calculated with the formula in DEW's own workbook.

Last verified: October 2026

Income as a percent of poverty—
Award per K-8 child—
Award per 9-12 child—
Estimated household total—
Tuition remaining after awards—

An estimate only. It uses the 2026 poverty guideline in DEW's 2026-2027 table ($15,960 for one person and $5,680 for each additional person) and the reduction formula in DEW's FY27 Expansion award workbook. Households that verify income at or below 200% of poverty cannot be charged tuition above the award.

How much EdChoice Expansion will a Cincinnati family receive in 2026-27?

That depends on two numbers you can find today: how many people live in your home, and line 11 (adjusted gross income) of your most recent federal return. Families at or below 450% of the 2026 guideline get the maximum, $6,166 per K-8 child and $8,408 per high schooler. Past that point DEW's FY27 workbook cuts the award in half for each additional 100 percentage points, with a floor at one-tenth of the maximum.

Will our official EdChoice award match this estimate?

Not necessarily. DEW verifies income and issues the award, applications filed after October 14, 2026 are prorated, and EdChoice pays the lower of the award and the school's tuition, which the estimate only reflects if you enter tuition.
