Can a Northern Kentucky student use Ohio's EdChoice at a Cincinnati school?
No. EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion are for Ohio residents, and renewal requires the student to remain an Ohio resident. A family in Covington or Florence pays a Cincinnati school's tuition without the Ohio voucher.
Does Kentucky have its own private school voucher or education savings account?
No. Kentucky voters rejected Amendment 2 in November 2024, which would have let the legislature fund students outside public schools, and courts had already struck down earlier Kentucky tuition tax-credit programs.
What can help a Kentucky family with Cincinnati tuition?
The school's own need-based aid, which the school sets rather than the state, and SGO-funded scholarships where the school or SGO allows out-of-state students. Kentucky's legislature also opted the state into the new federal scholarship tax credit in March 2026, which may support Kentucky-based SGOs from 2027.
Would moving across the river to Ohio change our options?
Yes. Once the household lives in Ohio, the child can apply for EdChoice Expansion like any other Ohio student, and the Ohio disability, preschool and child care programs open up as well.

What should our family do next?
Take the two-minute funding check. A tuition counselor reviews your answers and confirms which programs your child qualifies for and which dates apply.
